How it Feels to Be Me in the United States

It feels like all hope is lost for the United States to me.

To be me in the United States is to be a person who is scared to walk past a police officer thinking is today going to be my last day.

To be me in the United States is to be a person whose parents won’t let you go anywhere because “I don’t know them.” Or “It’s not safe.”  “How do you know it’s not safe?” And “You don’t know them because you don’t go to school with them.” I reply back, but it’s all for nothing.  I still know the answer will be no.  Sad and Depressed I return to my room.

To be me in the United States is to be a person who makes friends you think will have your back but yet stabs you in it.

But to be me in the United States is to be a person who can rise above the stereotypes which makes my victory even more glorious.

To be me in the United States is to be a person who knows what type of friends he wants thanks to his mistakes and doesn’t waste time on fake and phony people.

To be me in the United States is to be a person who stands up and fights for what he believes in.

Yes, my life may not be the best but it makes me try harder and pushes me to overcome and learn each and every day.
