Alonso Llerena


BIO

Alonso Llerena is a poet, visual artist and teacher born in Lima, Peru. His current work, which merges interpretations of historical events and personal history, documents and honors the victims of the Internal Armed Conflict that fractured Peru from 1980 through the year 2000. He is a Tin House Winter and Summer Workshop 2019 alumnus. He has received fellowships from The Martha’s Vineyard Institute of Creative Writing and Brooklyn Poets. His poetry has appeared in Cream City Review, Inkwell Journal, Magma Poetry, The Apeiron Review, ctrl+v journal and elsewhere.
