Oswaldo Vargas

I am currently pursuing my Bachelor's Degree in History (and accompanying Human Rights and Jewish Studies minors) at the University of California, Davis. My work has been published in Assaracus, Huizache, and the Green Mountain Review's tribute issue to U.S. Poet Laureate Juan Felipe Herrera. I live in Davis, California.

Sir Serrano

Sir Serrano showed me how
people like us love
How to avoid the conquistadores
aching to map my topography
Mark where the silver mines might be
How to loosen my tie
after wearing my Sunday best
for the eyes that always made sure I wore it
He pulled me in
to whisper
you can wear me too.
