BIO

Victoria Bañales holds a Ph.D. in Literature and Feminist Studies from the University of California, Santa Cruz. She is a Chicanx writer, teacher, and activist. Her writing has appeared in Translocalities/Translocalidades: Feminist Politics of Translation in the Latin/a Américas, Beyond the Frame: Women of Color and Visual Representations, Porter Gulch Review, North Dakota Quarterly, and Voices of Monterey Bay. She received the Fall 2020 Porter Gulch Review Best Poetry Award. She is editor of Xinachtli Journal and teaches English and creative writing at Cabrillo College in Santa Cruz County, CA. Victoria is currently writing her first novel, titled Candelaria.
